Athletics - Recipe For Success

!±8± Athletics - Recipe For Success

For every young person who comes to realize his dreams of becoming perhaps a famous quarterback like Tom Brady or a tremendous tennis player like Serena Williams, there are thousands upon thousands of others whose dream did not materialize in the same way. It requires a combination of various factors, attributes, abilities and circumstances (and often a good deal of luck) for one to arrive at the pinnacle of their desires. That starting point however, which is the dream itself, is vital. There must be a star to aim for if one wishes to ascend to great heights. That burning desire will be the fuel for the enormous efforts that will be required all along the path leading to ones desired goal.

For this reason it is wonderful to see so many youth athletic programs that are made available to young people. These opportunities become the vehicle for the exploring, learning and growth that are part of the process of determining what one is best suited for and then becoming proficient at, whether sports or almost anything else one can think of.

It is common to attend a youth sporting event and witness one or two who are obviously naturally gifted and already somewhat accomplished in the skills required for their sport or activity. It is also common to see a few who appear to have almost no natural athletic abilities which is often accompanied by apparent disinterest on the part of the participant. The rest of the group typically lies somewhere in the middle ground between the two extremes. They may not be the fastest or the most accurate, but they are desirous of competing and giving it their best. They may not be consumed with love for the game, but they are having fun.

The same scenario is played out on stages throughout life. whether it be in academics, business, home-making, arts and certainly in sports.

There is no secret formula that when followed will guarantee success. There is, however, a recipe that will give one the best chance possible. First, the all-important dream or desire. Finding the "thing" that you ache to do or want so badly to achieve is the first crucial step on the road to success. Then, the work begins which usually involves learning, practicing, trial and error and lots of effort. Typically, if you have no talent or aptitude for that which you are pursuing, you will lose interest rather quickly. This is not necessarily a bad thing, it can provide the impetus for finding something else that you are interested in.

You must find some satisfaction in your efforts because it is the small successes, achievement and improvements that feed the desire to persevere.

There is no substitute for sheer will and determination. They are critical to success in sports and in life. I would go so far as to say that they are at least as important, if not more so than talent. For this reason it is imperative to zero in on that which you are passionate enough about to sustain you through the failures and disappointments that are inherent with the growth process and to keep you "plugging away."

Backboard Height Adjusters For Basketball Goals

!±8± Backboard Height Adjusters For Basketball Goals

When you have decided that a wall-mount basketball system is the right way to go, you may want to consider installing backboard height adjusters for basketball goals. This is a way to adjust the basketball rim height to account for different ages and levels of experience. Introducing the game to new players in a way that they can experience success is important. There are times when buying a portable basketball system that is also adjustable just isn't the right choice.

If you have a gym or a rec center where you know that basketball games will be played regularly, installing a wall-mount system just makes good sense. You won't need to fuss with storing a portable system when it's not being used because once the wall-mount system is in place, then your players can just start using it.

Installing a type of backboard height adjuster for basketball goals is a way that players of different ages and skill levels can have the rim height varied according to their needs. For example, the FT 300 unit can be adjusted from 10' down to 8'. The FT 300 can be installed with any backboard that has a 20" x 35" spaced mounting bracket.

Adjusting the height with an FT 300 backboard height adjuster for basketball goals can easily be done from the court floor. A hand crank is used for this purpose, and the unit comes with a 10-year warranty, so you can buy with confidence.

The FT 310 is designed to work with a backboard that has a 36" x 62" spaced mounting bracket. It can be used to adjust the height of the basketball rim from 10' to 8'. An operator standing on the court floor can make this adjustment using a hand crank. This model is the only height adjuster that is warranted against dunking, and it can be used safely by schools and rec centers that are running youth programs.

When you want the ultimate in versatility when it comes to a backboard height adjuster for basketball goals, the Six-Shooter is definitely worth a look. It can be configured for six different basketball rim heights. Installing the Six-Shooter on a regulation 10' high basketball goal means that you have the options of adjusting to 9', 8 1/2', 8', 7 1/2', 7', and 6 1/2'. Changing from one level to another can be done in about two minutes. In a situation where multiple basketball leagues are sharing the same facility, the Six-Shooter helps you accommodate players from different levels.

The Six-Shooter will fit any style of basketball rim. This unit lowers the height of the basketball rim and moves it 24" closer to the free throw line. Younger players will appreciate this fact as they are learning to play the game. Keep in mind that the Six-Shooter is not suitable for either dunking or hanging from the goal.

Consider having one of these styles of backboard height adjusters for basketball goals installed when you want to have the flexibility to offer appropriate basketball rim heights to players at different levels.
